Laser Eye Treatments
Laser eye treatments
Every eye is unique and at Ultralase every laser treatment is unique - personally tailored to reflect your eye’s individual characteristics. During your free consultation we will build your detailed treatment plan and recommend to you which of our laser eye treatments will deliver the best possible result for you.
We offer three different laser eye treatments, explained below, all of which can be performed using LASIK or LASEK techniques.
Ultra elite
99% of people achieved 20/20 vision with Ultra Elite*. Using the most advanced Wavefront technology, Ultra Elite is more precise and accurate than a standard Wavefront treatment, enhancing your eye’s natural ability. This gives you the best vision quality available from any Ultralase laser eye treatment. This treatment is not available from any other national clinic.
Ultra plus
With Ultra Plus every treatment is unique, Wavefront technology allows us to create a tailor-made treatment plan to apply the treatment precisely where it is needed.
Your eye is unique just like your fingerprint and with Ultra Plus every treatment is unique. Our Wavefront technology allows us to create a tailor-made treatment plan that’s as individual as you are, and apply the treatment precisely where it is needed.
Ultra
Our standard blade-free treatment uses a cool laser to delicately reshape the cornea to ensure that the eye’s focal point is correct. The treatment is surprisingly quick, spending only seconds under the laser and is suitable for most prescriptions.
LASIK or LASEK laser eye treatment
Laser eye surgery involves the precise reshaping of the cornea, the transparent window that covers the coloured part of the eye. For eye treatment to be permanent, it must take place beneath the thin, protective outer layer. This layer is gently moved aside in order to let the laser do its work.
There are two fundamental types of laser eye surgery: LASIK and LASEK. They differ only in the way the eye is prepared for treatment. The actual re-shaping process is exactly the same in both cases.
All Ultralase LASIK laser eye surgery treatments now use IntraLase® to provide safe and accurate vision correction.
Some people may only be found suitable for either LASEK or LASIK laser eye surgery, whereas some people may be suitable for both, in which case you could choose which one you prefer. The only way to find out for sure which you are suitable for is to have a free laser eye surgery consultation, where your optometrist and personal advisor will discuss your options with you.
LASIK
With LASIK laser eye surgery, the surface of the cornea is lifted then replaced after the laser has been applied. Most people return to work within 48 hours. LASIK is surprisingly quick and is suitable for most prescriptions.
At Ultralase, we don’t use blades during our LASIK laser eye surgery; we use IntraLase® eye lasers. These lasers permit a faster healing process, significantly reduce the risk of complication and deliver outstanding laser eye surgery results. IntraLase® is a very, very fine laser which is used to create a flap in the protective layer of the cornea in preparation for corrective laser eye surgery.
Ultralase is the ONLY national vision correction clinic network to move completely away from the use of blades in all LASIK laser eye surgery treatments.
LASEK
With LASEK laser eye surgery, the protective surface of the cornea is softened and then folded aside. The corrective laser then reshapes the layer beneath. The surface is then smoothed back into place and a special contact lens is placed on the eye for 4-7 days while the protective layer heals.
LASEK based vision correction treatment is usually recommended if you have an active lifestyle or unusually shaped corneas.
